About Us

We're Leif and Kristine – a couple who plan our trips around a summit, a trail or a challenge rather than a sun lounger.

Sport has shaped the way we travel. We've both competed in strength sports. Leif used to compete in strongman and has travelled to test himself on historic lifting stones such as the Dinnie Stones in Scotland and the Húsafell Stone in Iceland. Today his main sport is arm wrestling, and he still seeks out old stones and unusual strength challenges wherever we go.

Kristine has competed in strongwoman, trains CrossFit and competes in arm wrestling at a high level. She also loves horses, and a good riding trip is never far from her list.

So yes – if you spot someone lifting a rock on a mountaintop in our photos, that's not an accident.

How we travel

We usually travel with a goal in mind. Reaching the top of a mountain – like Gerlachovský štít, the highest peak in the Tatras, which we climbed together, or Chulu Far East in Nepal, which Leif took on alone. Tracking down a piece of strength history. Or, for Kristine, finding the next great place to ride.

We'd rather come home with something worth talking about than a week by the pool. That might be physically demanding, a little unusual, remote, or simply something you don't do every day. Long queues, packed attractions and big tour groups are rarely what we travel for.

That doesn't mean we skip the famous places. When they're part of the trip, we go – we just want more than the highlights. And we're not a sightseeing or museum blog: our focus is hiking, nature, adventure, challenges and what we learn along the way.

Summits & Stones is where we share the trips that leave a mark on us – the places, the routes we hike, the adventures we take on and the practical lessons we pick up.

We'll also tell you what disappointed us, what was a hassle and what we'd do differently next time. Not every destination is amazing, and we won't pretend it is. Everything here is built on our own experiences, our own photos and our own opinions – so you can find ideas for your own adventures and plan trips that actually suit you.
